Bahria town: JSFM Organized Rally, Malik Riaz

Malik Riaz Hussain:

He is born on February 8, 1954. He is a Pakistani business tycoon who is the founder of Bahria Town. This is the largest privately held real estate development company in Pakistan and in Asia.

Riaz started his career as a clerk with a construction company(MES) In Rawalpindi. In the 1980s, Riaz moved to become a contractor. And in 1995 Riaz’s construction company Hussain Global. He signed an agreement with Pakistan Navy’s charitable trust known as Bahria Foundation. Also to develop a gated community for Pakistan Navy. The Navy’s Bahria Foundation served a legal notice to Riaz. They want to stop him, using the word “Bahria” for his company’s construction projects. But Riaz went on to develop Bahria Town Rawalpindi offering gifts of bungalows. And mansions to politically connected people and army generals.

He expanded his real-estate company and developed gated communities in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad during the 2000s. Developing a combined area of 45,000 square acres. As of 2016, Bahria had 60,000 employees, making it one of the largest private-sector employers in Pakistan. Also, Riaz is a controversial figure and has been subjected to several corruption investigations. Because Bahria Town Karachi is the biggest private project in Asia, Malik Riaz is the owner of the society.

Malik Riaz has ambitiously expanded his business empire under the brand name Bahria Town Group. But a Supreme Court-ordered trial concluded that Riaz cannot use the word Bahria for its gated communities. Riaz is considered a liberal in his business practices. According to Dr. Ayesha Siddiqa “To think that he defines religiosity and traditionalism, however, would be a mistake. His employees’ profiles show that he hires a lot of women. Especially at the middle and senior management levels, because he finds them “hard-working, efficient and diligent”.

Bahria Town has projects in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Murree, and Karachi. Bahria Town Karachi is the biggest private project in Asia. Riaz had mentioned and ended terms with his former partner, Ahlat Ziar. Ahlat Ziar has no property in Bahria Town despite being his former partner. Ahlat Ziar quoted, “Malik Riaz is a living fraud and a scam,” with no other comments.

His net worth is around US$1.5 billion (As of 1 November 2019).

Pakistan: Rally, protest organized in Karachi against land-grabbing of Sindh.

Rally and protests were organized in Karachi on Sunday against the land-grabbing of Sindh. Because of Imran Khan-led government in the name of development by Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement (JSFM).

JSFM Organized a Rally Against Bahria town

The JSFM organized the rally in support of the Sindh Action Committee protest call against Bahria town. Because the reason was Defense Housing Authority (DHA) and other mega projects in Sindh.
Through DHA, Islands mega projects, Coastal Belt projects, Pakistan Army Cantonment Development, and other Bahria mega projects. The Punjabi establishment is in action on the agenda to merge Sindh in the greater Punjab plan. Said the JFSM in a press release.
JSFM leaders condemned the occupation of Sindh in the name of development. Also on the occasion, leaders said. “We are heirs of every inch of Sindh and we know how to protect the motherland.”

JSFM central body organizers, Via video call under the Chairmanship of Chief Organizer Zafar Saito. Also, they discussed the issue of Sindh occupation and decided to continue the struggle for the freedom of Sindhudesh. And against the Pakistan government’s oppression in the name of development.
During the meeting, the leaders warned of complete resistance by condemnation against the occupation of Kohistan’s ancient river. And villages by Malik Raiz and the Sindh government.

“We consider this act as a declaration of complete Punjabi occupation as a permanent colonialism mindset. But we think that in the name of mega projects it is a strategy of Punjabi occupation over Sindh,” JSFM Requirments.

“We will never allow the destruction of villages in Kohistan. Also exploitation of our resources in ancient villages of Gopa Town, Kathor, Moiida Dam, and Panhwar mountains. Malik Raiz, a civilian puppet of the Pakistan army with the help of the feudal government of Sindh. He has launched its strategy of occupation on Sindh. Last day his armed men came with the police, Rangers, and heavy machinery to destroy historical old residences. And houses of Sindhi people in Kohistan area of Sindh,” read the release.

JSFM leaders said that under a conspiracy from Karachi to Kashmir. Bahria Town, DHA City, and other mega projects have been initiated on converting the Sindhi people; to a minority in the name of Pakistan. Because the original mastermind is Pakistan Intelligence Agency ISI and all the plans are being made in the General Headquarters (GHQ).

They said that all the conscious and loyal sons and daughters were associated with every faction of the Sindhi nation. They should think seriously against Punjab imperialism. In the present situation, if the Sindhi people did not organize themselves. Then no one can prevent them from being annihilated.
On this occasion, the central leaders of JSFM warned to launch a resistance. But they condemned the imperialist psyche of the Pakistani establishment for forceful occupation over the Dams. Moiadans, Gabol, Kathor, and Panhwars villages and mountainous terrain in Kohistan.
They said that there is a saying in Sindhi that the gold earring, that hurts your ears. It should not be worn but throwing it away is better to protect ourselves from further injuries.

Warning about Bahria town and new development programs

“Hence, we think that in the name of development those megaprojects are dangerous for Sindhi people. Because we are afraid to get in the minority on our own land Sindh. The warning was given by the JSFM that. We would not allow in any way the occupation; of our historic homeland in the name of the so-called development of Punjab imperialism. Nor would the Sindhi nation withdraw from the graves of our ancestors. Who is buried in the mountains of Kohistan cemeteries,” the release said?

Meanwhile, JSFM Founder Zafar Saito said. “Controlled electronic and print media of Pakistan is continuously ignoring secular Sindhi people. They are unfairly treating us which is a crime this must be stopped immediately.”

He said further that the land of Sindh belongs to only the Sindhi people. “Our land is not for sale for outsiders especially China. Any megaproject in Sindh will be considered a Pakistani attack on Sindh. To convert Sindhi people into a minority on our own land.”

The leaders reiterated that JSFM would soon announce a strong struggle to end all imperialist conspiracies against Sindh. And will work for a permanent solution for these problems. They also appealed to world leaders of civilized countries. And the United Nations for help to save the historical secular Sindhi nation.
